No matter which type of hysterectomy you are having, you are going to need help at home after. There are a lot of things you can do to get ready for this!
1. Do a good house cleaning before hand. Kind of a spring cleaning, you wont be able to do it again for 6-12 weeks after your surgery so anything that cant wait should be done now.
2. Prepare meals that can be frozen and then heated in the oven, easy for hubby or family to throw in for you! Grocery shopping should also be taken care of now, you wont be going again for a while.
3. Set up your bedroom with all the things you will need while you are recovering! A bedside table or one of those TV tables can be used to hold things you will need during the day, like medications, water bottles, snacks, etc.
4. If you have small children, explain to them that mommy will need them to help her when she comes home with a big owie and that they will be her big helpers. You will need help with them because you wont be allowed to lift anything over 5lbs! So please prepare for this. If you have no one to help you, call on friends, church family. If someone offers to help, LET THEM. This is NOT the time to be super woman!!!!
Medications Prior To Surgery
Any medications you are currently taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements should be discussed with your doctor! Some medications thin or thicken your blood and need to be stopped at least 3 weeks before a surgery.
