Photos of a cast of adult cerebral ventricles. Fetal ventricles have similar proportions during the 2nd & 3rd trimesters. These photos are presented to give a better understanding of their complex geometry. For detailed discussion of the ventricles see the original text: DuBose; FETAL SONOGRAPHY; W. B. Saunders Co. 1996; p. 212-218.

This is the standard view of the cerebral ventricle antrum. Measurement, not shown, was 8.8 mm. Note unilateral choroid plexus cyst. 24.6 weeks post LMP.

Cerebral Ventrical - parasagittal view showing posterior horn, antrum, body, and anterior horn. 26.3 weeks post LMP.

Coronal Head Circumference in a normal fetus. Cross-sections of the cerebral ventricular bodies can be observed cephalad to the thalamus. Note the near perfectly circular shape of the cranium in this section. This is a normal shape in the mid-coronal plane. 33.8 weeks post LMP.

The following image illustrates measuring to the medial cerebrum, not necessarily the medial border of the lateral ventricle. 15w6d post LMP.

The following image shows the specular reflection of the medial border of the
lateral ventricle. You do not always see this, so it is best, when you see an image
as above, to measure just the choroid. 15w6d post LMP.
