Ultrasound Interactive Case Study: Unusual Yolk Sac

History:

Transvaginal scan at 7weeks 4days gestational age.

 

Ultrasound Findings:

The yolk sac has an unusual shape and thick walls but normal size for GA. Blood flow was visible on the yolk sac and in the vitelline vessels with normal real-time B scan. In addition, there is an unusual protrusion of the chorion into the coelom with flow inside this area (see images). CRL=12.4 mm; YS 5.4 mm, EHR 163 bpm.
