Mature Cystic Teratoma


Sagital transabdominal US image demonstrates a mostly echogenic mass with sound attenuation: mature cystic teratoma of the right ovary in a 29-year-old woman.  The photograph of the gross specimen (mature cystic teratoma) shows pasty sebaceous material and hair within the cyst cavity, findings that account for the echogenicity seen at the US imaging.
