Ultrasound Interactive Study: Intracystic Papillary Carcinoma

Case Presented by Paulo Pires Cegalla, CD ECO Diagnóstico Ecográfico, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Intracystic Papillary Carcinoma

Mammography disclosed a poorly defined mass (without microcalcifications; more than half will show microcalcifications) in the lower inner quadrant of the right breast in a 51 years old woman with no complaints. Ultrasonography showed a complex cyst (non-infiltrating), with a solid component, measuring 1.8 x 1.2 cm. Cytology revealed an Intracystic Papillary Carcinoma, which comprises less than 1% of all breast cancers.
