Ultrasound Informal Case: Thickened Endometrium

Ultrasound Interactive Study: Thickened Endometrium

Case presentation by Joe Antony

Thickened Endometrium

Here is the transverse section of the uterus of the case of endometrial polyp that I presented earlier. This was taken just 3 days back when the patient came for follow up.
Joe, India

Here is a new case. The patient is a young female complaining of infertility. No other significant gynec complaints. The TV scan shows a peculiar endometrium (12mm thick).

What do you feel about it?

Joe

A polyp???? The transverse view would be interesting.

Polyp is my first thought.   Sonohysterography would also help.

Thanks, Terry

Dear friends (Terry, Zalel, Patrizia, Dianne, Anatoly, Art, Mario, Judy and others),

Thank you so much for your response to my case presentation.

Regarding the clinical details- the patient is a young female (29 yrs age) , with her LMP being 22nd November.  ie- she is in the follicular or proliferative phase. She has no significant complaints other than her being infertile.  One correction- the endometrium is 12 mm (not 20 mm as I erroneously  mentioned).

Incidentally, I referred Callen's textbook-- there is an almost exactly similiar image shown under the description of Endometrial polyp.
