Pelvic Varices and Questionable Thrombus

 Pelvic Varices and Questionable Thrombus

Lisa Comer

Title of image:  Pelvic Varices and Questionable Thrombus
Description of image: Endovaginal sonography of the ovary with pelvic varices/color Doppler and possible thrombus. 35 year old G2P2 (last pg not recent), sonography of LLQ requested to f/u LO cyst (apparently this ? clot was not seen or not present on sonograms 6 wks prior). RO removed several yrs ago due to dermoid. Although ovarian vein not clearly identified on this sonogram, CT was performed and showed no evidence of femoral or iliac vein thrombosis (no mention of ovarian vein on CT). No follow-up sonography yet. These images demonstrate dramatically the judicious use of color
Doppler: the varices light up and the follicles in the ovary do not. For discussion of differential diagnoses, is the mass a thrombus?
