Community Activities and Service

  • Past President Kirkland National Little league World Champions in 1982. Set up data base in order to manage the league and its rapid increase in size after the win. Dealt with parents and a community with great expectations. Raised $43,000 in 5 months to avert financial disaster caused by the expenses necessary to support the winning team.
  • Registrar Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association. Responsible for assigning and registering 5,000 children of all ages to teams. Inherited the task with only 5 months before season started and records in a "shoe box" Involved delegating tasks and turning what appeared to be a doomed program into a success. I was replaced by three people.
  • Served on a small committee appointed by the City to recognize the people of the city who had contributed in a national manner. Wrote the regulations for the Plaza of Champions which is a monument of plaques honoring citizens of Kirkland who have made outstanding contributions.
  • President of the Parents Association of Pacific Northwest BalletSchool. Managed the children and their parents who performed in professional ballets such as the Nutcracker. Assisted with the ballet school’s accreditation by COPA.
