I. Menopause in India

A scientific Work on “The Menopause in the urban Indian Women” REVIEW research paper has been published in the frontline international journal. The emergence of the Menopause in India. Climacteric (Menopause—The Journal of International Menopause Society, UK) 2003, 6:92-95. *(Medline-pubmed)

II. Technology Development

a) Research work on the novel microelectronics-based simulations of Doppler FVW’s (MOSFET) related to complex blood flows IN PRE-ECLAMPSIA. Completed with IITD (Electrical Engineering), First paper in the world literature on MOSFET MODEL IN DOPPLER has been published in the frontline international journal—2003. * ( www.biomedical-engineering online.com/ content/2/1/16.) Full paper

b) Collaborating research in instrumentation, medical imaging, multi-model telemetry and bio-sensors, bio-rheology.

III. Tribal Health Care (since 2000)

Initiated an integrated quality reproductive health care project for tribal at Bastar, Chattisgarh. It involves a micro-credit-savings project to economically empower the tribal women, introduce safe water-sanitation practices, and active health awareness, * screening and intervention program on RTI-HPV-CANCER PREVENTION (Presented in Prev. Oncology Conf. in France. A functional network has been developed between the primary domiciliary level of care and the tertiary care (A fully equipped with operative facilities at our Vivekananda Tribal hospital, Bastar) in order to provide a comprehensive health care to tribal population, Reproductive and child health, leprosy, TB control program.

IV. Ph.D. {Biomedical Engineering}

The study was designed by combining mathematical & electrical model and permissible experimental data to explain, answer, and validate complexities associated with the least understood complex uteroplacental vascular system AND PRE-ECLAMPSIA.

V. Various Work Experience

(a) Malaysian Experience (1996-99): Made significant contribution in networking reproductive care in the largest state of the country through continuing medical education, strengthening referral networks, introducing innovative technology at the referral tertiary care hospital & developing ICU/red alert system for high risk maternity cases, auditing of perinatal/maternal morbidity/mortality, etc that helped in further reducing the Maternal and Perinatal mortality and saved huge government expenditure.

(b) UNDP-UNV (1990-92) Project in high altitude areas of Bhutan as UN specialist.
As an expert with UNDP, upgraded the national hospital in terms of services, manpower capabilities, started gynecological cancer surveillance unit, high risk obstetrics unit, networking health services and submitted a Technical report on the UNV-UNDP project on the “ Strengthening the technical manpower capabilities in Bhutan.”

VI. Indian Experience

(a) At Lakshadweep (IGH) - Initiated safe motherhood practices, high risk approach and early referrals networking, strengthening tertiary care centre, developing telemedicine networking between group of islands,

(b) At CGHS Mumbai (2000 onward) - Developed the polyclinic into a state of art medical centre for the advance diagnostics and treatment in OBGYN, sophisticated day care surgery unit, menopause, infertility, high risk, ultrasound color Doppler unit, pre-natal genetic counseling centre, and cancer surveillance unit.

(c) Work at Safdarjung Hospital (OBS-GYN Department at post-graduate teaching hospital, New Delhi, (1982 to 1995)): completed MD (1982-85) and Ph.D. (1992-96) in Biomedical engineering from IITD/AIIMS, Delhi (on job part time) in reproductive & vascular technology development, developed collaboration with national medical device centre at IIT-Delhi, High risk obstetrics, maternal-perinatal mortality studies, Standardization of obstetrics ultrasound & partogram, establishing high risk labor room, Intensive care for pre-eclamptics, birth asphyxia and neonatal ICU care, Chlamydia infection and colposcopy, reconstructive vaginal surgery, endoscopy etc,

(d) National perinatal projects- Indian Council of Medical Research-

(i) A concept of regionalization of perinatal care in India,

(ii) National collaborative project on the identification of high risk families, mother and new born etc. in relation to nutrition, anthropological and other related factors.

(e) MD {Obstetrics & Gynecology} by Thesis: Delhi University, 1985.(Safdarjung hospital) : Evaluation of Maternal and perinatal morbidity in cesarean section following short course antibiotic therapy.
