Bacterial Vaginosis and Trichomoniasis: Screen, Treat, Prevent - a proactive approach to patient management.

In this presentation, Dr James McGregor, Professor of Clinical Ob/Gyn at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine, will address the importance of taking a proactive approach to bacterial vaginosis (also known as “BV”) and trichomoniasis.

Too many women and their health care providers fail to appreciate the significance of these two conditions. The obvious signs and symptoms of BV and trichomoniasis are often played down as “nuisance” complaints. However, the evidence shows that BV and trichomoniasis must be taken seriously as a health risk. Recent advances in diagnostic technology allow clinicians to quickly and conveniently screen patients for bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis, make a prompt and accurate diagnosis, and initiate appropriate treatment without delay.

Throughout this presentation, and again at the conclusion, you will have the opportunity to request product samples (available in US only), additional information and follow-up from your local Genzyme Diagnostics representative about the OSOM® Trichomonas Rapid Test and OSOM® BVBLUE® Test, by conveniently clicking on the button at the bottom of the slide screens.

Introduction to Office and Operative Hysteroscopy, Resad Paya Pasic, MD, with co-authors Royshanda C. Smith, MD and Patrick Yeung Jr, MD

NEW
Part 2 - Operative Hysteroscopy
This video tutorial will demonstrate the fundamentals including setup and equipment needed to perform office hysteroscopy, the technique of diagnostic hysteroscopy including fluid delivery options and camera orientation inside the uterine cavity and setup, equipment, and technique required to perform operative hysteroscopies, such as polyp or IUD removal.

Part 1 - Office Hysteroscopy - In this video tutorial we instruct on the setup, equipment and management of office hysteroscopy. The minimal use of anesthesia and the improvements in therapeutic and diagnostic qualities of office hysteroscopy makes it use an attractive alternative to the operating room for both the gynecologic practice and their patients in terms of reduced time and cost efficiencies.

Ovary Removal Decreases Ovarian Cancer Risk but Increases Risk of Heart Disease and Death, Study Says
To find out, William Parker and his colleagues from Harvard Medical School and numerous other institutions tracked the health outcomes of 29,380 women participants in the long-running Nurses' Health Study. All had a hysterectomy for reasons other than cancer. More than half, or 16,345, had both ovaries removed; the other 13,035 women kept their ovaries.
