Society of Obstetricians and Gyneacologists of Canada (SOGC)
The Society of Obstetricians and Gyneacologists of Canada's Web Site, SOGCnet, has been selected to be the first highlighted in our new feature; Association Spotlight. SOGC has been linking to OBGYN.net since last Autumn and it has certainly made a big difference in the number of health care professionals logging on to OBGYN.net from Canada. We decided to find out more about this popular Ob/Gyn destination on the Information Super Highway.
Network Administrator, Garry Lowe shared these insights with us.
OBGYN.net: How are you better serving your membership with Internet Technology?
GARRY: Members have quick access to SOGC information. On-line they can view our monthly newsletter, SOGC Guidelines, Policy Statements and Committee Opinions, access to Medline, Careers and Opportunities section, check out the latest on upcoming CME's and register on-line.
OBGYN.net: Why did you decide to build a web site?
GARRY: Dr. Rodolphe Maheux a past president of SOGC came up with the idea during his term in office (1994-95).
OBGYN.net: When was your site launched?
GARRY: SOGCnet was launched during the Ontario CME in 1996.
OBGYN.net: What has been the greatest advantage in using the Internet?
GARRY: Members have access SOGC Guidelines, Policy Statements and Committee Opinions 24 hrs a day. Access to Medline has been a great addition as well. Members can also communicate with each other and use an open forum section to share clinical problems.
OBGYN.net: What is the future goals of SOGC on the Internet?
GARRY: One goal is to add the Cochrane Database to our home page. We would like to see all our members using the SOGCnet to obtain medical information.
