OBGYN.net: What is the mission of your association?

Mitchelle: In general, we disseminate information and educational materials to lymphedema patients, health care professionals and the general public about primary and secondary lymphedema. Our ultimate goal is to make lymphedema a household word and common knowledge within the medical community, and make treatment available to all patients who need it.

OBGYN.net: Please tell us about your membership.

Mitchelle: Our membership consists of lymphedema patients and health care professionals from around the world. Over 2,500 strong.

OBGYN.net: How are you better serving your membership with Internet Technology?

Mitchelle Reaching a global community (which we cannot do any other way, really, due to our very limited budget).

OBGYN.net: Why did you decide to build a web site?

Dr. van Hall To reach and educate a greater audience and to create networks worldwide for informational exchange.

OBGYN.net: When was your site launched?

Mitchelle One year ago.

OBGYN.net: What has been the greatest advantage in using the Internet?

Mitchelle Increased visibility, less paper waste and postage use (conservation) and reaching more health care professionals overall, for very low cost.

OBGYN.net: What is the future goals of your organization on the Internet?

Dr. van Hall To expand our services.
