This report is written to you from the coast of the Red Sea following the most successful Congress in Cairo, Egypt. Our thanks to Dr. A. Assaf for his wonderful hospitality and excellent meeting. In this issue of the ISGE News, you will find a summary of the great debates, highlights from the Conference in Egypt and exciting news about our annual upcoming Congress in Australia, April 16-22, 2000. A reminder to each of you to send your contribution to the ISGE News. Our email is ultimatev@aol.com. Please send your contributions as an attachment in a document file in Word 3.1, 6.0 or Word '97. Our categories are:
1. Reports from local and regional organizations. (Such as the report from the Thai Endoscopy Society in the last Newsletter)
2. Letters to the Editor on any subject of endoscopy.
3. Original contributions and scientific summaries (Such as the contribution from Dr. Goldfarb on the place for myolysis in modern gynecology in this issue)

Again our thanks to Dr. Assaf and the Organizing Committee. The ISGE's role of bringing laparoscopic surgery to countries such as Egypt in large Congresses is further demonstrated by this outpouring of support from the Egyptian people.
Our special thanks also to Dr. Peter Maher and Dr. LK Yap for their selfless contribution, giving a full week of their office and surgery time to contribute to the People of Shanghai, China by operating every day, four cases a day during this past summer. Our special thanks to Karl Storz Company and especially to Mrs. Storz for paying their airplane fare and for providing their hotel arrangements. Our special thanks also to Dr. Alan Gordon for his wonderful organization of this program.

Our special prayers go to Dr. Alan Gordon, Dr. John Newton and Dr. Jim Daniell for their successful recovery from the treatment of their medical conditions.

Sincerely yours:
James E. Carter, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.O.G
