Welcome to the OBGYN.net Fibroid Forum.

Hope Waltman, Forum Moderator Here you will be able to discuss fibroids with other women, ask questions and get opinions from the world's leading experts on fibroid treatments. I will be your guide and moderator. My name is Hope Waltman and I have walked in your shoes and gone through the process myself.

Meeting other women and families who suffer with Uterine Fibroids is a great way to learn about this disease and develop a treatment plan for your personal situation.

Uterine Fibroids disease not only affects our physical being, but it can also affect us in other ways we never thought of - our moods, makes us afraid, it may cause us to have a feeling of denial because we can't talk about what we are feeling to anyone. Fibroids can affect a woman's quality of life. Please remember as you enter our Fibroid Forum that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Many women and families are suffering everyday with fibroid symptoms.

I would like to tell you a little about my story. My Mother had fibroids and she had a Hysterectomy. When I started to have severe pain/spasms 2 ½ years before my fibroids were diagnosed I never realized they could be caused by heredity. By the time I had an ultrasound performed to confirm the fibroids I was already experiencing frequent urination, constipation, excessive bleeding and clots, bulk feeling, lack of energy, painful periods and ovulation, and lack of concentration due to the pain and discomfort I was experiencing every month.

My fibroid journey has taught me that communicating with other women, families, and the physicians that volunteer their time to help educate women online has been a very positive avenue in the process of healing my inner self. In turn I can now help other women. I want to wish each of you good health and happiness!!

Sincerely,
Hope Waltman
