AWHONN 2009 Convention Registration Now Open
Convention to provide nurses with tools to succeed in increasingly
challenging health care market
Washington, D.C., April 16, 2009 — Registration for the Association of
Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) 2009 Convention
is now open and already more than 65 percent of the hotel room block is
sold out. The event draws an estimated 3,000 nurses and other health
care industry leaders from across the U.S. and Canada. AWHONN will be
celebrating its 40th anniversary year during the convention, which
takes place June 27-July 1 at the San Diego Convention Center in San
Diego, Calif.
"The AWHONN convention is the premier place for education and
networking within the obstetric, neonatal and women's health nursing
community,”said AWHONN Executive Director Karen Peddicord, RNC, PhD. "Clearly, our
members and industry partners see the value in attending even in a down
economy. This year's convention will give nurses the chance to both
refresh their critical nursing skills and learn new nursing practices.”
With more than 100 presentations, workshops and panel discussions on a
variety of topics, nurses can earn up to 38.5 contact hours by
attending the entire convention. The sessions will focus on the best
practices, new strategies and critical skills needed for improved
outcomes by obstetric nurses, neonatal nurses and women's health
nurses.
The convention will also feature multiple networking events with
faculty from around the country, along with a half-day job fair. The
job fair will give event attendees the opportunity to meet face-to-face
with nurse recruiters from across the United States and receive
in-person career counseling tips from AWHONN board members and staff.
"Hot topic” sessions include:
- The Cost of Unnecessary Treatment;
- Healthcare Reform: What It Means For Moms And Babies;
- Super Bugs; and
- Broken Heart Syndrome.
This year's convention exhibition hall will cover an estimated 100,000 sq.
