Using mIRC for chatting at OBGYN.net

In the mIRC setup menu for servers configure:
1) click 'add' a new definition and call it something like "OBGYN.net Chat Server"
2) Set the IRC chat server to 'chat.obgyn.net'
3) Set the port number to '4067' (not the typical 6667)
4) Set the password to the password you picked and registered with our chat server. If you have never registered, first go to http://chat.obgyn.net:4080/ and select "one time registration" and fill out the registration form.
5) Fill in the full name field
6) Fill in the email field
7) Put in the name you registered for yourself with into the "nickname" field

There are about another 100 options you can set in mIRC but I don't believe any of those are required to get into talk@obgyn.net. The defaults aren't bad or you can fool around and set them to however you like to fine tune mIRC to your liking.

Lastly, you will have to 'add' your "channels" which is what we call "rooms" in ichat lingo. The channel you most likely want is called "#womens-health". The other channels/rooms we have set up are: "#free-for-all", "#ob-gyn-l", "#obstet-l", "#sig-chat" and "#conference". After you connect to our server the mIRC channel menu will pop up. That is when you add and select channels.
