- I had PCOS for 2 Years before detection
- Diagnosed on May 24, 2000
- I live in St.Thomas, Virgin Islands USA
My 1st period came at age 14. Right from the beginning they were irregular. At age 16, mom took me to a gyn who then put me on provera to induce a period. Then put me on BCP (Lo-Oval). Doctor never made it seem like there was much of a problem. In the 12th grade I asked the doctor if the problem that I'm having with my menses means that I won't have children. He very nonchalantly said "You probably won't" I left the doctor's office in tears. The only time I can remember having consecutives periods on my own was for three months in 1998. Ever since then they've been rather scarce or should I say non-existent.
I was diagnosed with this dreadful disease after reading about it in Woman's Day and taking the article to my OB/GYN. In November of 2000. An RE in GA referred me to an internist who then give me a Rx for Glucophage. I took it for 3 months and got my period once on its own. My testosterone level also went down on this medication which is good. As of today, I'm still battling this disease and have begun my quest to conceive.
