Biographical Summary

Prior to joining the Sims IVF clinic in Dublin, Dr. Sills served as Division Director for Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Atlanta Medical Center and was a founding partner at a leading private IVF center in Atlanta. A Tennessee native, Dr. Sills is a Vanderbilt graduate and read medicine at University of Tennessee. He is board certified (USA) in obstetrics & gynaecology, and is a sub-specialist in reproductive endocrinology/infertility.

Following residency at New York Downtown Hospital (NYU), Dr. Sills completed his reproductive endocrinology fellowship under the mentorship of fertility pioneers Gianpiero Palermo and Zev Rosenwaks at Cornell University in Manhattan.

Dr. Sills has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed scholarly manuscripts on IVF, ICSI, and related topics. Often consulted on complex aspects of the advanced reproductive technologies, Dr. Sills was the first to describe safe use of recombinant TNF-alpha for women with severe rheumatoid arthritis who undergo ovulation induction. His report on successful ICSI in the setting of prior 6-MP chemotherapy for Crohn’s disease was also the first of its kind in the world literature.

While in USA, Dr. Sills led the team that first characterised homocysteine levels in polycystic ovary syndrome, a principal area of his clinical research. A previously unknown genetic mutation causing infertility was mapped by Dr. Sills in 2001—a discovery recognised by his election to the Max Planck Society (Munich).

He is a Fellow of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, American College of Surgeons, Royal Society of Medicine and the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Sills is a member of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Experimental & Clinical Assisted Reproduction, published in London. He is among an elite group of physicians who have co-authored academic papers with both a member of the U.S. Congress and the British Parliament.
