The prized is awarded to the candidate who is considered to have submitted the most meritorious thesis for the degree of M.D., Ph.D. or Ch.M. in any one year from any department in the Faculty of Medicine at Cape Town University, South Africa. The thesis adjudged to be the best in any particular year must show sufficient merit in order to gain the prize. Men or women, age 35 years or under, will be eligible regardless of race, colour, creed or nationality.

TEACHING ACTIVITIES
1969-1972 University of Cape Town – involved in student tutorial system; groups of 10-16 students given lessons on obstetrical or gynaecological subjects twice a week
1972-1976 As lecturer and then senior lecturer, part of one’s responsibility included the training of students, house surgeons and registrars by bedside tutorials, formal lectures and clinical supervision, together with assistance in wards and operating theaters. Over the years, all senior registrars were taken through a personal course prepared for them as final tuition for the M.R.C.O.G. or F.C.O.&G. (S.A.) examinations. Active participation in formal clinical lectures and meetings.
1972-1976 Consultant in charge of Hysterosalpingography service. Responsible for instruction of OB/GYN and Radiology residents.
1972-1976 Lecturer in infertility and the management of sexual dysfunction and marital problems.
