Dr. Aniruddha Malpani is a consultant infertility specialist in private practice with his wife, Dr. Anjali Malpani. They started India's first Sperm Bank in Bombay in 1990, for therapeutic insemination by donor using cryopreserved sperm. They have a full-fledged infertility unit, which provides comprehensive services, including IVF and GIFT; preconceptional sex selection; preimplantation genetic diagnosis, as well as microinjection, in collaboration with UK's largest IVF unit, the Midland Fertility Services. They have had over 500 pregnancies as a result of their treatments.

They have the distinction of achieving the first pregnancy in India after preimplantation genetic diagnosis. They have also started India's first support group for infertile couples, a registered charitable trust, called Infertility Friends.

They have authored a book, Getting Pregnant - a Guide for the Infertile Couple, published by UBS Publishers, Delhi in 1994. This book has been translated into Gujarati and Marathi as well. It is available free online at http://www.fertilethoughts.net.

They have also started India's first Consumer Health Education Resource Center - HELP, or the Health Education Library for People, at Om Chambers, Kemps Corner in 1997, as they believe that " information is the best prescription ". This has now become the prototype of the modern digital library, and is on the Internet at www.healthlibrary.com. Dr Malpani was invited to London to present a paper on " Promoting Patient Choice - An International Perspective" at the King's Fund Conference held in UK in October 1997.

They did their MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from KEM Hospital, Bombay University in 1986 and went abroad for further training in infertility. Dr Malpani got a First Class First at the Final MB,BS examination of the Bombay University in 1982, and won over 20 gold medals, prizes and scholarships during his academic career. Dr Anjali Malpani was awarded the Woman of the Year Award by the Giant's International Group in 1999.
