I am Rich Gimpleson; I am the incoming president for the AAGL. I am really
looking forward to the 2006 year. Our board has made a big change in that we
will now have representatives from North America, South America, Europe, Africa,
Asia and the Pacific Rim, so we have truly become a worldwide global
organization which I believe will enhance the educational experience for
everybody involved with multiple views and ideas and the sharing of experiences.
We will be setting up three registries to keep track of various surgical
procedures and complications next year. We will be tracking vaginal cuff
complications, we will be looking at hernias following laparoscopic surgery and
we will be looking at pregnancies following endometrial ablation. I think once
we get this information and these registries up it will be information that will
enable all physicians who do these surgeries to make better decisions on what
kinds of techniques they are going to be using in their practice.
We will be having many more post-graduate courses throughout the year with the
increased interest in hysteroscopic sterilization. We will be doing more
programs teaching hysteroscopic surgery, basic and advanced surgery, involving
sterilization, endometrial ablation, the treatment of ovarian fusion defects.
I think we are going to be having quite the busy year and I am just looking
forward to a lot of activity throughout. Thank you.
