I am Dr. Larry Glazerman, I am in ObGyn practice in Allentown,
Pennsylvania, and I wanted to talk about one of the most exciting things
that is really being promoted at this year’s meeting, which is moving
technology into the office setting.
We have procedures including hysteroscopy, hysteroscopic sterilization,
endometrial ablation, incontinence treatments and numerous other things
that we can do in the setting of an office which eliminate trips to the
hospital, eliminate general anesthesia, eliminate patient discomfort and
make it much more convenience and acceptable for our patients.
We have had displays and talks at this meeting about various
hysteroscopic techniques, again about hysteroscopic sterilization done
in the office with local anesthetic, about various techniques for
endometrial ablation performed in an office setting and we have had some
new technologies that are just seen this year, including treatments for
urinary incontinence, all of which again can be done in the setting of a
physician’s office with less discomfort, less hassle to the patient and
equal or better outcomes.
