I am Dr. Ronald Levine. I am a past president of AAGL and I am also a past member of the board of AAGL, but I am speaking primarily as one of the sites for the Fellowship for Advanced Gynecologic Endoscopy that is sponsored by both the AAGL and the SRS, an arm of the ASRM.

The reason I think it is necessary for everyone to know about our particular fellowships is because we now have 13 fellowships in advanced gynecologic endoscopy around the United States. Four of these centres are primarily academic, but the others are all advanced centres for a one-year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery and advanced hysteroscopic surgery. The fellowships change from site to site: some have more stress on your gynecological types of surgeries, others have more stress on other types of procedures. But generally they are advanced procedures and, at the end of this one year, some fellowships are continuing on for an additional year. We now presently have 13 sites. This year, we had 47 applicants for these 13 positions. This is becoming a very, very sought after fellowship. We hope to continue this fellowship in an even stronger position and hopefully someday to even have it considered as almost a sub-specialty.

Many of our graduates of these programs are going on into academic positions. The graduates of our old program at the University of Louisville have gone on to work at the University of USC in California, the University of Toronto in Canada. We have people staying on at the University of Louisville in academic positions. So I think it is important for the people and physicians around the country to know about this particular fellowship of which we are very proud for this association between AAGL and the Society of Reproductive Medicine. Thank you.
