An OBGYN.net Exclusive Interview
from the Endometriosis Walk For Awareness
Heather Guidone, OBGYN.net and Glenda Motta, RN, MPH

Glenda Motta, RN, MPH is co-author with Robert Phillips, Ph.D. of "Successful Living with Endometriosis: An Action Workbook" and "Living with Endometriosis," two upcoming Endometriosis publications.  Dr. Phillips is a licensed psychologist specializing in coping with physical ailments and other psychological topics, and is the Founder and Director of The Center for Coping in Long Island, NY.  Glenda J. Motta earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from University of Maryland and her Masters in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Motta is the Owner of GM Associates, a healthcare marketing and reimbursement consulting firm and has authored over 125 articles and books.

Heather:  Glenda, tell me a about your upcoming publications for OBGYN.net's readers.

Glenda: I understand the unique needs of women with endometriosis, having lived with this disease since my pre-teen years. My goal is to educate and empower women suffering with endometriosis to take charge and live life fully.  These 2 books will present an easy-to-read format that women of all levels can understand.  The books are helpful for patients, but also include materials for families and significant others.  Currently, there is a lot of information on Endometriosis available, but it is scattered and sometimes inaccurate; my goal is to take all the current, legitimate information and put it all together--medical, surgical, alternative treatments, anatomy, causes, coping strategies, real-life examples, dealing with healthcare professionals, diet and lots more.

Heather:  Glenda, what brought you to the "Endometriosis Walk for Awareness 2000" today?

Glenda: The Walk is history in the making.  I would also like to actively help lobby and make Congress aware of the funding deficit regarding research on Endometriosis. I have lobby experience for nursing groups and am a native of Washington DC.  My current position is a reimbursement expert, and I work with various regulatory agencies (HCFA, FDA, etc.).

Heather: Thank you, Glenda!  I am excited about your upcoming publications and look forward to reading them!
