It became obvious to us, almost immediately, that any project of this scope which does not include the perspective of Ob/Gyn's outside the US would be incomplete. Ob/Gyn is a unifying focus, gaining much from the input of practitioners around the world.
Fortunately, collaboration is a well accepted tradition among physicians, and today's medical community wants to be able to network globally. This makes each Ob/Gyn professional a natural beneficiary of modern online technology. The Internet can provide faster, better, cheaper, and more powerful access to global information.
To promote this valuable international sharing, the OBGYN.net council of International Representatives provides for an advocate in every country. This allows us to access and present relevant information of specific interest which, when taken together collectively, has major international value. It also provides physicians who may have limited Internet access, experience, or translation difficulty a method of accessing information and providing valuable input. Most important, it gives doctors in each country someone to contact to discuss ideas for the future and begin to build consensus. This insight can then be incorporated into recommendations for the future; continually making OBGYN.net a more valuable tool for everyone.
